ISU Extension and Outreach in Greene County will be host a free tree seedling promotion Friday, May 14, from 2 to 4 pm at the Greene County Extension office. Advance signup is encouraged by calling ISU Greene County Extension at 515-386-2138.
ISU Greene County is collaborating with The Green Initiative™and partnering with Trees Forever and GreenState Credit Union and the Department of Natural Resource to provide the trees. These trees will provide an amazing package of benefits that all help to make Iowa greener. Trees provide cleaner air, energy conservation, windbreak, temperature moderation, increased property values, wildlife and pollinator habitat and more.
These trees are free to the public. Limit is 10 trees per household.
Trees seedlings that will be available are:
- Hackberry – 21-30 inches tall
- River Birch – 21-30 inches tall
- Shellbark Hickory – 11-20 inches tall
- Swamp White Oak – 11-20 inches tall
Participants are can pick up their seedlings in the north parking lot at the Extension office, 104 N. W. Washington St, Jefferson.
